279F: 1970s Kids Detective Book

This was a series of books that I read between 1975 and 1981 (I think).  Each book featured 20 or so stories (2-6 pages long) of a super sleuth who solved a mystery, that invited you to figure out how he solved it.  Answers were in the back of the book.   The lead detective was a “Dr.” and he had a sidekick who narrated, and were set in England.

Thank You!

They’re not set in the UK but the description otherwise fits Donold J Sobol’s Two Minute Mysteries. The doctor is Dr Haledjian and the detective is Inspector Winters. They were first printed in 1959 but have been reprinted numerous times. I remember them being available through the scholastic book club in the late 70s early 80s

Another alternative is Seymour Simon’s Einstein Anderson stories, with the solutions at the back of the book. Also not UK, and later than that.

I’m also looking for something similar. Short (1-3 pages) detective puzzles, basically aimed at kids where you could pick up errors in the witnesses’ statements etc. Answers at the back. Yellow cover and I feel they were German originally. authors Hans…? may be wrong on that. Remember one of the stories was about clowns in a circus.
