I can’t remember the name of the book or the author. A children’s book with plenty of line drawing illustrations, and featured some children who lived near the sea. One morning they go down to the beach to find that an ancient wrecked galleon has been washed up on shore, which I think they explore ( okay, this was before health and safety concerns! š Then when they go down to play the next day, there has been another storm and the ship has been washed away again.

Were the children a brother and sister who meet a man with a beard and wearing sandals? They spent the day with him by the sea and he showed/taught them several things about what they discovered. This would have been depicted in the pictures which looked like ink drawing with a lot of blue hues. The book may have been a hardcover about the size of a Dr. Seuss book.
