If you've heard about the recent burning of 100 CCPL-Beachwood books, you'll understand why local religious leaders with an activist edge have banded together to answer that symbolic gesture of hate with a proactive movement to provide resourceful, joyful, diverse books to libraries and institutions large and small.
The movement is still in its nascent stages, but 3 pop-up book fairs have been announced to sell books on a 2-for-1 platform: 1 for you, 1 to donate to an appropriate institution. Loganberry Books is supporting these Pop-up Book Fairs with books highlighting the experiences of the Black, Jewish, and LGBTQ+ communities. The goal is 1,000 books!
There are also some Summer Book Parties in the works, akin to large, neighborhood book club meetings. Sign up on the IGAH website to keep in the loop.
