June 30, 2007

It was a first year event, modelled after former antiques shows, but with a wider appeal.  More stuff, more people, more advertising monies.  It was a gamble, trying to please everyone, including the community with their own flea market lot, mixing arts and antiques.  But the weather was perfect, we had 70 vendors signed up, entertainment, the Euclid Beach Rocket Car, and the people came....  It was an inspirational and gratifying day, and everyone I talked to was not only enjoying themselves, but also buying and selling well.  Ron Meister ran out of hot dogs not once, but twice.  We ran out of supplies for the sock puppets.  Some people looked like they ran out of stuff period.  Hooray.  But my favorite quote of the day was from one of the non-profit informational tables who said that she'd seen board members down to service staff at the event, and she couldn't name another event than had more cross-cultural appeal or a brighter spectrum of the community.  Here are some random pictures -- mind you, during the height of the event, we had three people working the counter here at Loganberry, so this photo walk had to wait until the peak had passed.
