Out-of-print books are harder to stock than new books, and some are hard to find, period. If the title you are seeking is not listed for sale above, that probably means that I am currently out of stock. However, I am always on the lookout for books, and will gladly quote you when I do find your coveted book. To add your name to my Wants Files, simply fill out a Book Request Form and I will e-mail you when I have a copy in stock. Thanks. |
| I have searched and searched for Pickle-Chiffon
Pie. If you cannot find it, please send me other searching suggestions
you might have.
This is absolutely my most favorite book. I don't know what happened to my copy when my parents moved out of my childhood home and I miss it! I would be eternally grateful if you could find a copy of this book for me and any children I may have someday! When I was young my brothers and sisters and I LOVED Pickle-Chiffon Pie. Recently my sister just had a daughter, the first of the next generation :), and it would be great if I could get a copy of that book!! Glad I found your site. Have been looking for this series for a short time - most interested in Pickle-Chiffon Pie. My own copies were lost many years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! I still have my copy of There's an Elephant in the Bathtub, but looking for more for nieces/nephews. Also, any other books by Bradfield. I cannot pay a huge amount for this book. I loved it as a child and we have two of Joly Roger's books that my children absolutely adore. This one was my favorite when I was young and I would be so thrilled to find one. Thank you for your help. Hello, Rock. yep, its the book I learned to read from. I so would love a copy to teach my kids from. Thanks! Great Web Page!!!!... I too was looking for any info on my favorite childhood book The Flying Hockey Stick it was an escape for me in a sometimes frightening family life... I would read and re-read it as a kid pretending that I could build some contraption and fly away... I would like to share his work with my children...I would also be interested in any current info you might have about the author. Thanks!!! I realize these might be hard to find. I've just now found who the author is. I loved these books as a child and want desperately for my child to know the colorfull illustrations and goofy stories. If you have any information that will help me track down the author and publisher, or anyone involved with the production of these wonderful books, please let me know. Been looking for Hello Rock for a few years now. I had won one on e-bay in January and it never arrived. First e-bay auction that went bad for me, and it was to be a present for my 70 year old mom. If you could help me find this book I would appreciate it. Pickle Chiffon Pie was my very favorite Children's book growing up. I have been looking for it for years. I am also trying to remember the title on another of Bradfield's books. The only thing I remember is something about hamburger trees. Any information about the title of this book would be greatly appreciated. To the person who wanted to know about the "hamburger trees", the name of this great book is Giants Who Come in Different Sizes. It was a childhood favorite and I just purchased this collectible to be given to my niece, so that the tradtion of reading and enjoying this book can be past on to future generations. This book is listed by many educators as being a "fairy tale favorite" among children and a classic. Why are these wonderful books out of print? Why haven't they been reissued? Pickle Chiffon Pie has to be still my all-time favorite kid's book. I rediscovered it while I was unpacking all the stuff I put in storage during college. I decided to go look for more, and much to my dismay I see that they are all out of print. :( My little brother had Roger Bradfield's Hello Rock memorized at the age of three. When we would have people over my sister and I would love to tell them that he could read. He would open the book and run his finger along as he "read" page after page. We really had people fooled! Out of the blue, I find myself reciting what I can remember of it to my children! They look at me like I'm crazy! I would love to have a collection of Roger Bradfield Books to share with them. I have a copy that my daughter would not sell for any price, as far as I know! I know this won't work for very many people, but I was fortunate enough to pick up a copy of this book at a Friends of the Library used book sale last summer. Granted, it was worn from a lot of use, but was still in fair condition (good binding still). For folks not interested in a 'collectible' copy, it might be an option. And it was a steal My daughters would both be thrilled if I could find them each a copy of Pickle Chiffon Pie, their favorite book as children (now they have children), but they are so expensive. Why can't someone convince Bradfield to print it again? My husband loves to tell the story of how, as a young boy, he read Pickle Chiffon Pie every day for months to a neighbor who patiently endured each recitation while she recuperated from a broken leg (her husband accidentally ran over her with the riding lawn mower!) He also has a copy of The Flying Hockey Stick. I have been collecting as many of Mr. Bradfield's books as possible for a Christmas gift... would especially like to obtain a reasonable priced copy of The Lavender Lion, if anyone has any leads. Thanks! |
I would like to know if you have ever seen a
picture book published in the mid-60s called Who Are You? I think
it had a blue cover, and it was the size of most picture books. It
was written in verse, and I still remember how the first page went:
"Who
are you? What's your name? Would you like to play a game? Let's pretend
we haven't met. I'll ask the questions, Now...get...SET!"
I don't remember the author or illustrator, so I hope the excerpt above
is enough to go on.
Could this be Who are You by Joan and Roger Bradfield published by Whitman in 1966. Illustrations by Winnie Fitch. There were questions in verse to make us think about the things that make us distinctly and uniquely individuals. I think this could well be the book! Could you keep your eyes open and/or do a search using the info from the cyber-response and check to see if the first page contains the verse that I remember (or something close to it)? I would definitely be interested in buying a reasonably priced copy if this is the book I had as a child. I haven't been back to your website for awhile; I'll have to see what other stumpers have been posed and solved. Thanks for getting back to me with the information. I'm looking for the book Who are You. I lost the copy that I had when I was a child. The beginning of the book went.. Who are you? What's your name? Would you like to play a game? I would love to get another copy. Why did they stop printing these wonderful books if people are still enjoying them? I have just stumbled onto your site and the page devoted to my books... the JOLLY ROGER books. It is gratifying to know so many folks enjoyed my books and still remember them after all these years. If anyone is interested, a friend down in South America (Uruguay) has made a website showing many of the books and telling a bit about me. --Roger Bradfield Some time ago I noticed that you were kind enough to run my website address on the page devoted to my books. It's been changed! It is now: www.Rogerbradfield.com. Now I know why my mail has fallen off! I have hopes of getting "Pickle Chiffon Pie" republished, but getting the needed copyright information from the Library of Congress has been very frustrating. Have been trying since July 7th! Any ideas? Thanks so much! --Roger Pickle Chiffon Pie: I just stumbled upon this great book in an Antique Mall in Dallas. I loved it immediately and bought it for my 2 month old daughter. She's not reading yet, you understand, but we'll have loads of fun reading it together. The illustrations and story are wonderful and I sincerely hope Jolly Roger has good luck getting his books republished. Amazon.com has copies for $145 - they really are in demand. Best of luck to all searching for his books. I'll be looking for the Flying Hockey Stick next. PASTEL DE CREMA DE PEPINILLOS.¡Estoy desesperado! He buscado en portales especializados, en páginas de todos los paises e idiomas, en librerias de descatalogados y se me estan acabando los recursos. Si alguien me pudiera facilitar un nuevo camino para seguir buscando, les estaría eternamente agradecido. Pagaría cualquier precio por un ejemplar de: "PASTEL DE CREMA DE PEPINILLOS" I feel so deprived not having been aware of ALL of Jolly Roger Bradfields books. My children coveted these books. Unfortunately I only had one incomplete set of these four and was so BLESSED to find the 'hockey stick' at a garage sale! I have looked everywhere imaginable and available to me to find more of his books. My grandson, an early excelled reader has the 'hockey stick' and he too, has claimed it as his favorite. WE (I need to see the others) NEED MORE! Roger Bradfield's Who are you?
My oldest sister was given this book in 1967 by her first grade teacher
as a class prize for reading the most books. It was a family favourite
growing up and she still has her copy today. I would love to find a copy
to share with my own sons. We have been searching everywhere and
were happy to find this site where others also remember those wonderful
opening lines of "Who are you? What's your name? Would you like to play
a game?", but sad to learn that it is out-of-print.
