LOGANBERRY LEGACY
The Little Rabbit Who Wanted Red Wings may not be a best-seller, but perhaps a cult classic.  I remember it myself from earlier days; I think my third-grade class made a rather elaborate puppet show out of the story.  And the illustrations in the original by Dorothy Grider are fabulous!

My mother's favorite childhood story (she was born in Alabama, 1935, so it was in print then) was about a little black boy called Lil Hannibal, ran away from home, lost in woods, hoot owl says who, who are you.  That's all she can remember-Grandmother thinks it might have been in a book with other similar stories.  Sorry I can't provide more info--hope you can help!

twig body, nut (pecan?) head.  Miss ___?  This was a story about a "lady" whose body was a twig (with two arms, two legs) and she found a nut to serve as her head.  At the end of the book, she grafted herself onto a tree, and blossomed.

The Little Rabbit  Who Wanted Red Wings.  I recently came across this book in some things my mother  had given me years ago. Is there a demand for the book? Does it have any  value? I think it will be a wonderful book for the grandchildren I hope I will someday have. I plan to keep it, but am curious. It's a wonderful story!

This story read by teacher in early grades of school.  Possibly short story in school reader. Granny kept Hannibal working so much he ran away from home but returned when he realized helping his granny was better than being out on his own. I remember the phrase about his granny keeping him "toting" things.
There's a Li'l Hannibal written by Carolyn Bailey in 1938. That's probably it.

I saw your comment about Li'l Hannibal.  It was also 
one of my favorite books as I child.  I still have my book and it is in pretty good condition considering it's age. In fact pages are in excellent condition.  Was thinking about selling it to help with a family medical emgergency.  son-
