![]() EASTERFriday, March 28, 2008 Harriett The Alabama cousins complained about the 38 degrees for their Easter egg hunt (our high temp today). But it looks like they had fun anyway. I'm sorry to say it's still snowing in Cleveland, but not as bad as last Easter on April 8, 2007. Why do I always talk about the weather? Because with a record snowfall of 30.5 inches in March (and counting), I'm just plain old sick and tired of winter, and I could really use some flowers. Are those flowers in that picture? AFRAHThursday, March 27, 2008 Harriett I mentioned Anna's twins the other day, but I forgot to mention Roberta's Afrah. Roberta used to work in Strong Bindery before she moved to Minnesota and had a baby. She came back to Cleveland a few weeks ago, with a walking and almost talking adorable little girl. Here's a picture of Afrah reading Gallop! (a great book featuring animation -- polarized pictures that simulate movement when you move the pages). And, she's expecting a new sibling in a couple of months! TWINSSaturday, March 22, 2008 Harriett Anna brought in her twins the other day. They moved a little too fast for perfect camera opportunity, but one started climbing onto the book cart, and the other one followed. For a brief moment, they were both on the bottom shelf together and it was too cute for words. But they moved too fast for my shutter finger. ALABAMA SNOWMonday, January 21, 2008 Harriett My cousins get all excited when they see snow. I think it's great that their little kids finally have opportunity to dance in the snow and build a snowperson. Better than Disney World itself, perhaps. Well, okay, at least cheaper and involving fewer headaches. Especially if they don't have to shovel the sidewalks. Happy New Year!
We've declared this week a rainy day. It doesn't have much to do with the weather, but with the notion that you'll do those pesky jobs, clean that corner, or fix those books on some proverbial rainy day. The rainy day has come! Feels great to clean house! Brenda, meanwhile, is off to Disney World. Bon voyage and have fun! We've got our Mickey Mouse hats on here, and we're bouncing along to Laura Love (Brenda can't stand any music involving a heavy tempo or drum, but it helps when you're dusting). Hope the weather is good down there, or at least the right kind of weather for those January jobs....![]() SOUTHERN
PUMPKINS Wednesday, November 7, 2007 Harriett My Southern cousins take the same annual autumnal trip to the local pumpkin field as my New England cousins do. This is Meredith and Barrett with their Zen pumpkins and pumpkin stool, respectively, in a pumpkin patch in Alabama. Can't beat that.
Here are two poems by my goddaughter Suzie, age 9.
(That's Suzie
in the back of the USPS truck, her Halloween costume.)
Pudlie is officially one year old today. That's right, that means today is BIRTHDAY CAKE DAY! Pudlie and his mom Audrey came to help decorate Halloween windows at Loganberry last night, since being an autumnal baby, it is the official celebratory season. So come by Loganberry for a feast of witches, black cats, crows, bats and pumpkins. The windows are graveyard sparse, covered with a backdrop of well-named creepy cloth.... And happy birthday to Pudlie!
Well, as you can see from the entry below, Becky found greener pastures (read: full time job with benefits). That means we're short-staffed here again! Anyone out there need a part-time job? Job Description: cleaning & shelving of books, customer service, website updates (most especially Stump the Bookseller), basic upkeep and other glamorous retail tasks. Skills needed: self-initiative, friendly and resourceful, basic computer skills (keyboarding, data entry, internet savvy, MS-Office tools, MS-Access a bonus). Oh yeah, and a love of books and good alphabetizing skills! About the photo: you don't have to be a goat, but an
appreciation
of puns is a good thing around this many words. Special thanks to
Erika for a perfect kid photo. (Applicants: bring/send a resume
with
a short paragraph of why you want to work at Loganberry Books.)
That's my goddaughter Suzie being a goofball. But she did grow the pumpkin herself, and she let me take this one home! The leaves are juust starting to turn in Vermont now, so Halloween season must be upon us. When I arrived back at the shop this afternoon, we had several boxes of Halloweenie supplies, and we plan to decorate this year. Black cats and purple witches! Mmmmhhheeeheeee... Thanks for holding down the fort, Rebecca and Becky! Trip photos! |
